A global energy and resources private equity fund planned to take a portfolio company to IPO within about two years. It needed to know whether the CEO could lead the business there. Scalewell co-founder Nick Watling, then at Heidrick & Struggles, was asked to prepare a report to inform that decision.
Nick began with the business, its context and its strategy. With the CEO, the executive team and other stakeholders, he built a model of the leadership needed to deliver that strategy and reach IPO. The CEO was then assessed against the model on skills, capabilities, knowledge and behaviours, through interviews and analysis of a range of data. The fund received a report on the CEO’s suitability for the mandate.
It was very pleased with the quality of the work and confident it had made the right decision.
